There is no shortage of big names among the 120 or so specialists from the sports industry present at the Sports Congress of Tomorrow (WOM + N) 2021 being organized by the Barça innovation center (BIHUB) from November 8 to 12 to present and discuss the latest scientific, technological and commercial trends associated with sport.

The last name to add to the list is none other than Alex Abrines, Barca’s basketball star who was previously the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. He will participate in one of the sessions of the Technology component. Footballer Frenkie de Jong, in his case in the Sports Analytics track, also appears in a joint session with Vosse de Boode, head of sports science and data analysis at AFC Ajax.

Abrines will be joined by Ferran Prieto, CEO of Pau Gasol Enterprises for a debate on the latest developments in sports technology, showcasing some of the latest entertainment systems and discussing their importance for fan engagement, the impact of next generation technologies on training routines and recovery in global sport, new content platforms, digital assets and NFT, and the challenges and opportunities in these areas.

Technology is just one of seven tracks at this year’s congress, which will be attended by a wide range of guests also specializing in Medicine and physiotherapy, Nutrition and performance, Business, Methodology (Training) and Gastrosport, the latter being a new space for the event that combines sports nutrition and gastronomy.

All these conferences will revolve around the central theme of women and their role in different areas of the sports industry. Indeed, what is called the Sports Congress of Tomorrow (WOM + N) 2021 is a declaration of principles aimed at promoting equal representation and opportunities for women in all areas of the sector.

Out of more than 120 specialists from 47 countries, no less than 55% are women, including big names like Milena Bertolini, coach of the Italian women’s team, Rita guarino, Inter Milan women’s coach, and Iraia Iturregi, Athletic Club de Bilbao women’s coach, speaking in the Methodology section, Caroline Graham Hansen of FC Barcelona, Kirsty Elliot Sale from the University of Nottingham, Nicky keay, endocrinologist of Sport and Dance, and Clara Prat of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, intervening in medicine and physiotherapy.
