Adamstown GAA

A big shout out to the Adamstown Minor Women’s Football Team who were crowned Division 1 Champions for 2022 last Saturday at the Bodibro Minor Division 1 Final at Piercestown. They beat Clonee Adamstown 3-08 Clonee 1-05. The playing conditions were tough with heavy showers making the pitch very slippery, but with minutes to go Ellen Duggan scored two goals to secure the win.

The team consisted of: Katie Sweetman, Ella Furlong, Rebecca Oglive, Caoimhe Curtis, Caragh McDonald, Isobel English, Ellie Kehoe, Katie English, Eilish Roche, Ellen Duggan, Leah Furlong, Niamh English, Sinéad Roche, Niamh Bates, Ellen Gill Subs: Erin McDonald, Clodagh Crean. Liz Dempsey, Kate Flood, Roisin Gill, Aoife McCabe. Manager – Kevin Bates. Mentors – Jeremy English, Tom English, Claire Furlong and Jackie Roche. Well done, everyone – a great performance.

Minor Football Champions 2022 – Congratulations to the Adamstown Minor Football Boys who also brought glory back to the club by becoming Minor Football Champions for 2022. They beat St Patrick’s, Camolin – final score Adamstown 2-07 St Patrick’s 0- 06. Kudos to everyone involved with the team.

News Coláiste Abbain

Kudos to our TY Community Care class who found the time last week to collect and sort all the food donated for our community food drive and donate it to our local support services. Incredible support from staff, students and parents for our community food drive. Baskets were delivered to families in need in our community. Thank you all. Special thanks to Mrs. Breen and Mrs. Meyler for the coordination.

Congratulations to TY student Jack Whitty on winning an All Ireland medal in the Under 17 Softball Championship. A huge shout out also to second year Bridget Murphy for her overall victory at Leinster in the One Wall Championships.

St Padre Pio Healing Mass

A Healing Mass of St Padre Pio will be held at St Abban’s Church in Adamstown on Friday 18th November at 7.30pm. Individual blessings with the glove of St Pio. Mass concelebrated by Fr. Bryan Shortall OFM and Fr. Robert Nolan.

School open house

Ballycullane National School is hosting its annual Open House on Wednesday 23rd November from 7-9pm. All parents, children, future parents and members of the community are invited.

It’s a great way to catch up and watch the work and enjoy some light refreshments. I can’t wait to see everyone.

Plowing Celebration

The County Wexford Plowing Association is hosting a dinner to celebrate our World, European and National winners. It will be held at the Tintern Complex, Ballycullane on Saturday 19 November at 7.30pm. Tickets will cost €20 each and are available from committee members.

Tintern Review

The annual parish publication is now on store shelves and is great value at just €8. It is on sale at the post office and in shops in the parish and some shops in neighboring parishes.

This year’s content includes stories about a popular Boley man who turned 100, the origins of the Gusserane Church belfry, the story of a man who came back from the dead, a farewell to a school principal from Gusserane as well as roundups of various organizations throughout the parish, from sports to plowing and rowing.

News from the GAA club

Bad luck for the Women’s Junior B team last Monday, who narrowly lost to Baile Dubh Tíre at Glynn-Barntown in the Shield Final.

A very big shout out to the all year woman for all her hard work and dedication for the 2022 season.

Many thanks to Simon, Mary, Ciaran and David for their dedication and hard work with the girls throughout the year.

Lotto – There were no jackpot winners in last week’s draw. The numbers drawn were 1, 13, 23 and 30. There was a €200 match three winner, Camross ICA, the next draw will be at Bannow-Ballymitty GAA on November 15th.

The Under-19 Championship began with a home game last Saturday in Grantstown. This Saturday they travel to St Mary’s Maulitown for a 4-30 game.
