Billy Moore Days 2022 at Avondale

Old Town Avondale will come alive with good nostalgic entertainment, food, music, rides and more during Billy Moore Days, a four-day event named after Avondale’s founder. Local businesses and organizations are all invited to be part of this centuries-old historical tradition. This street-style celebration takes place October 13-16 on Western Avondale in Old Town Avondale. To add to the fanfare and community fun, a number of friendly showdowns, games, contests and stage acts will take place for everyone to participate.

Carnival (Thursday, October 13 through Sunday, October 16): DeConcini Park lights up with fun and excitement during all hours of Carnival. A wide variety of rides and games include favorites such as Magic Maze, Panic, and Giant Slide. Carnival hours are Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Wristbands are $17 in advance on and $20 on the day, cash only (an ATM will be available). Food from Carnival concessions will be available for sale.

Billy Moore Days parade signals az

Parade (Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m.): floats, horses, bands and artists are ready to parade down Western Avenue for the Billy Moore Days Parade. The parade will feature dozens of colorful entries, decorated floats, horse-drawn wagons, dance groups, local celebrities, community organizations, vintage cars, school clubs, scouts, and more. Prizes will be awarded for best overall appearance (1st, 2nd and 3rd place). Participants can register online at Join us for this new route of the 2022 fashion show!

Fire Hose Frenzy (Saturday, Oct. 15, 12:30 p.m.): come and watch a fantastic pipe battle! Watch the Avondale firefighters fight this battle with fire hoses as they push a barrel back and forth along a cable. Cheer on your favorite team and cool off as the water flies. This event benefits the Southwest Lending Closet.

Western shows and contests (Saturday, October 15, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.): Take a trip back in time with comedy stunt shows, horse riding demonstrations, and even magic and old times! Dr. Buck’s Wild West Show entertains everyone, and the whole family is invited to participate in friendly competitions, including the Wild West Hoopin’ Contest, the Yee-Haw Hollering Contest, and even a mustache and beard contest. The activities will take place at Sernas Plaza, register on site at Dr. Buck’s information booth, free of charge. *ATTENTION – the sound of simulated gunfire will echo through the area at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.*

The entertainment lineup and full stage schedule are listed online, but enjoy various musical acts from County to Latin Rocket and enjoy dances from Ballet Folklorico Esperanza and more! Various food trucks will be on hand to feed any hungry stomach and wash it down with a $7 Billy Moore Days beer, wine or special drink from The Pasta Factory, which includes a souvenir mug!

Please note that a few road closures in Old Town Avondale will be in place to accommodate the festivities. Western Avenue will be closed from S. 3rd Street to Dysart Road beginning Friday, October 15 at 7 a.m. and closed from Central Road to Dysart from 6am. Saturday October 15. Additionally, N. 6th Street from Western Avenue to Agua Fria High School will be closed from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16 for the parade.
