Dancing on Ice’s Torvill and Dean put their social life on hold to save the ITV show from the ax
Skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are putting their social life on the back burner to save Dancing on Ice from the ax.
The duo will be back as judges for the new series, so if they catch coronavirus it will cause major problems.
And there are fears that an epidemic on the set could force it to be completely suppressed.
Christopher, 63, said: “We will limit our social contact. There is no exit to the restaurant. We will stay at home and cook at home.
“The rules for the show this year will be strict. We will all have the same protocols we had last year and potentially even more.
“And everyone will follow the guidelines very strictly because it’s important.
No one wants to compromise the show, so everyone will do their best to stay healthy and safe. “
Last year’s series was plunged into chaos when two famous contestants were forced to quit due to coronavirus.
And after three more had to leave due to injuries, the bosses were forced to cut one of the live shows in a shocking move.
Jayne, 64, said: “It was scary. Producers had to find a way to make it work. We had to miss a week to be able to regroup. It was the only way to continue. “
Christopher added, “Last year was new to everyone – how we handled it, the protocols, everyone’s concerns.
“No one really knew what was going to happen if someone caught the coronavirus. But now what we need to do is established and we have more information, so we are hopeful. “
The new series is expected to provide viewers with a little much-needed relief as the nation continues to endure the pandemic.
The producers are doing everything to make it shine more than ever.
Christopher said: “People are looking for entertainment. With this show, you never know what’s going to happen. There is dancing and glitter, but there is also this sense of danger that adds excitement.
Dancing on Ice kicks off on ITV on Sunday January 16
