James Kimani of Strathmore University wins LG TikTok dance competition

James Kimani, an IT and business student at the University of Strathmore, came out on top in the latest LG Paca Dance Challenge. The Dance Challenge was a collaboration between LG Electronics and Ubisoft’s Just Dance on Tiktok in Kenya.

The 26-year-old garnered the majority of fan votes for his dancing style and creative and fun videos. Kimani, who is also an LG 100 Club influencer, won the grand prize for a series of LG NanoCell 55-inch Nano 79 TVs from LG’s latest line of AI-enabled home entertainment solutions.

The Paca Dance Challenge is part of LG’s mission to connect and entertain audiences through technology. Earlier in August this year, LG invited Kenyan music lovers to present their best performances.

To participate, users had to post their video to TikTok, using LG’s #SpotOfRhythm branding effect. They would then record the video by tapping the red camera icon at the bottom of the official hashtag challenge page. The hashtag #SpotOfRhythm would then be automatically included in their publication, with a Just Dance coach and a track.

The other contest winners were awarded LG XBOOM Go PN1 speakers. The winners were selected based on a combination of likes on their videos at #SpotOfRhythm microsite, as well as overall creativity and the potential to go viral. The first 50 participants in the contest took home a pair of LG TONE Free FN4 headphones.

“I am very happy to have taken part in this competition and to have emerged as the winner. From the start I was determined to win so I did my best. I thank everyone who voted for me and I am also grateful to LG for supporting this contest, ”said Kimani delighted after receiving her award from LG.

During the campaign, TikTok users had the opportunity to see some of their favorite content creators participate, each performing their own unique style to inspire others. The winners were chosen based on the most unique and creative performances.
