John Whaite of Strictly Come Dancing shares his love and support for pro Nikita Kuzmin amid war in Ukraine
Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has shared his heartfelt love and support for professional Nikita Kuzmin just days after reuniting with his grandmother after crossing the Polish border.
The 32-year-old, from Chorley, said he was ‘really, really praying for his family and for everyone in Ukraine’ amid the ongoing war that has devastated the country. The former Great British Bake Off winner is one of many Strictly stars speaking out against the Russian invasion.
Nikita made his debut on Strictly Come Dancing last year when he was partnered with Tilly Ramsay. He left Ukraine for Italy aged nine to support his sister’s dancing career, and he has voiced his support for the war-torn country on social media.

The 24-year-old professional dancer was reunited with his grandmother in Poland after escaping war by “walking five miles in the freezing cold”. Nikita posted a photo on Instagram, showing him smiling as his grandmother sat in a chair next to him after meeting her at a train station in Krakow.
However, the star still has three family members who still live in the country’s capital, Kyiv. Over the past few weeks, he has constantly updated his loyal legion of fans on the safety of his family living in the war-torn country, reports the DailyStar.
John, who reached the final of the latest Strictly series as one of the final two couples, shared his heartfelt love and support for his friend Nikita as he continues to donate and share information about what his loyal legion of fans can do to help refugees. flee the country.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star, he said: “I really, really pray for his family and for everyone in Ukraine. I truly pray for a remarkable miracle to happen as soon as possible to stop the devastating bloody destruction that seems so unwarranted.
He went on to explain how the recent conflict has caused him to rethink how far the world has come since World War II in 1945.
John added: “To see someone like Nikita, who is one of the loveliest people you could ever wish to meet, to see him go through such pain right now and anxiety for his family and his people. It makes you really, really wonder how far we have come since the previous two world wars?”
The Lancashire boy has revealed how he continues to pray for ‘a miracle’ that would end the conflict overseas. The TV chef continued: ‘It’s so worrying and I feel, like many of us here in Britain, I feel so helpless about what we can do to help.
“I’ve made donations, I’ve shared information from Nikita on social media and I really, really wish for a miracle.”
It comes after Judge Rinder reunited with his former partner Strictly Oksana Platero’s grandparents in Ukraine.
