Maidstone Roller Dance trio selected for World Cup as club win five golds at Great Yarmouth Tournament
Three members of the Maidstone Roller Dance Club have been chosen to represent Great Britain at the World Cup.
Brothers Oliver and Zac Martin (senior men’s solo) and Laura Donoghue (junior women’s) received call-ups.
The World Cup was to be held for the first time in 2020 but was postponed due to Covid-19.
It will now take place in Italy and Portugal in May, with the finals later this year in Germany.
Maidstone manager Ann Odhams said: “This is great news, and the first international event Britain has sent a team to since 2019.
“I’m delighted that we have skaters, especially for Laura, as she has never been selected for this level of event before.”
This is the latest good news for the club, hot on the heels of the successful GBSA National event in Great Yarmouth.
They took 22 skaters to Norfolk, returning with four gold, one silver and two bronze.
The individual gold medals went to Eoywn Ogilvie, in her first competition representing Maidstone, and Chloe Barton.
The senior team of Ella Donoghue, Oliver Martin and Zac Martin also made the podium, and Oliver Martin took gold in pairs.
