Programs and classes offered at your local recreation centers

As summer and fall sports leagues wrap up their seasons, that doesn’t mean athletes have to hang up their cleats or basketball shoes. Local recreation centers roll out their winter leisure sports programs and offer a variety of fun activities for all ages. So try something new this winter and sign up for a class at your local leisure centre.

Here are some of the upcoming programs offered by Greeley, Evans, Windsor and Loveland Recreation Departments.

Greeley

Don’t miss your chance to participate in the Haunted Hoops Adult Basketball Tournament taking place at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 at the Greeley Recreation Center Main Gym, 651 10th Ave. The tournament is open to adults 16 years of age. and older teams and may have a maximum roster of eight players. Registration for the Junior Nuggets Basketball League will be open for kids born in 2015 and 2016 until Friday, October 7, with the season starting the week of October 24. For children born between 2011 and 2013, registration will continue through Friday, December 9 with the league beginning the week of January 9, 2023. Skyhawks volleyball camp is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Ave., Greeley. The camp is designed for children ages 8-14 and participants can choose to come on Tuesdays, Thursdays or both days. Registration is required and admission is $109 per child. The AIR Multisport Clinics are scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Greeley Recreation Center, 651 10th Ave., Greeley. Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to register for the Recreation Center’s Winter Break soccer camp from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, December 19 through Thursday, December 22. Adult Women’s Indoor Volleyball will be held 6-9 p.m. Mondays beginning the week of October 17 at the Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Ave., Greeley. Evans

Hot Shot Basketball for Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders is scheduled to begin the week of October 24 at the Evans Community Complex, 1100 37th St. The introductory program is open to boys and girls and will teach youngsters the basics sports in a fun and safe environment. POUND Fitness is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 11 through Tuesday, November 15 at the Evans Community Complex, 1100 37th St. Adults 16 and older can work on their fitness and strength training using lightly weighted Pounds . Adults 16 and older can weight dance Zumba, scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 5 through Wednesday, November 9 at the Recreation Center, 1100 37th St. The program mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for a full body workout. Windsor

Barre Above classes will be offered at 9:30 a.m. every Friday in December at the Windsor Community Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th St. The class is open to guests ages 13 and up and will focus on a lower body workout and of the trunk. Learn the art of fencing at 6 p.m. Friday, October 7 at the Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th St. The course is open to participants ages 7 and up and no previous fencing experience is required. TRX classes will be offered at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 30 through Sunday, December 18 at the Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th St. The class, open to guests ages 12 and up, will include weight lifting exercises. to tone and strengthen the upper and lower body. Dance Fusion choreography is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, November 4, and December 2 at the Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th St. The three classes will focus on Afro-Cuban fusion and Mambo fusion and all ages . are welcome. Community members ages 12 and up are invited to register for the start of t’ai chi at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Recreation Center, 250 N. 1st St. The class will cover the basics of gentle gentle movement which helps to establish balance, flexibility and strength. Glow & Go Family Bike Ride is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 1 at Fairground Park, 700 S. Railroad Ave. The program will allow families to get around on a guided evening walk. Preschool recess will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4 at the Recreation Center, 700 E. Fourth St. The one-size-fits-all class is open to children ages 3-6 and their parent or guardian and will include running, jumping, roll and play in the center gym. Adults 18 and older are invited to register for Adult Beginner Pickleball, set for 10 a.m. Thursday, October 13 in the Great Gym at Chilson Recreation Center, 700 E. SkateStart School’s outdoor camp is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14 at Mehaffey Park, 3285 W. 22nd St., Loveland.
