Who’s back in the ballroom?
Back to the ballroom! Before Dancing with the stars debuted on Disney+, several series pros showed off their stuff for the official promotional shoot.
“The disco ball makeover? It’s a 🔟 on our side. 👏wrote the reality series’ official Instagram alongside the poster on Thursday, August 18. Pictured are dancers Cheryl Burk, witney carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Brandon Armstrong, Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov danced under a disco ball in the shape of Mickey Mouse.
“YESSSSSS CANT WAIT,” Carson, 28, wrote via an Instagram comment at the time.
The six dancers who starred in the Disney+ photoshoot – and an accompanying commercial – will return to the ballroom when Season 31 returns next month. However, the full list of dancers has not yet been announced since the contracts have not been finalized, We Weekly can confirm.
The So you think you can dance alum, for her part, had already missed season 29 while pregnant with her son Leo. (Carson and her husband, Carson McCallisterthen welcomed their baby boy in January 2021.) While Carson and Lindsay Arnold were both absent in the middle of their pregnancies, many of their classmates DWTS pros hit the ground running last year, including Burke, Val Chmerkovsky, Jenna Johnson and Sharna Burgess. Karagach, 29, finally won the mirror ball trophy alongside the NBA star Imane Shumpert.
Earlier this year, Disney executives announced that Season 31 — and next year’s Season 32 — would air live on Disney+ rather than ABC. While the cast lineup had yet to be announced at the time, the pros were okay with the move.
“I actually find it very exciting,” said Chigvintsev, who won DWTS season 29 with Kaitlyn Bristowe – said exclusively We in April about the switch. “What’s also really exciting is that we’re actually going to be one of the first big shows…to go live on a streaming platform. So it’s great to be part of the Disney family. It’s always a good time. I think it’s very exciting.
Johnson, for her, was also excited about the change. “I’m so excited,” the 28-year-old pregnant reality star said We in June. “I think change is scary in general, but I also think it ignites a new spark and [brings] that kind of refreshing energy. … I’m just excited to see where the show is going. I think it’s amazing that we’re the first live show to be on their platform.
Although the Utah native hasn’t confirmed whether she will be returning to the show amid her pregnancy, she said We that the Ukraine native, 36, was “really excited” to return to the stage despite exit speculation.
“So the funny thing is we don’t know if we’re coming back just before the season [starts]”, Johnson said at the time. “But yeah, I know Val is really excited to be back for another season and I think he’s in the best shape of his life right now. I don’t know what happened to him [this year]but it is ripped off.
DWTS season 31 — which will be hosted by Tyra Banks and former champion Alphonse Ribeiro – premieres on Disney+ Monday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
